1. How do I check to make sure I am registered to vote?

You can find out if you are registered to vote by following the link below. You’ll need to enter your name in the exact way that it appears on your voter registration or the system may not be able to find your record.

Follow the instructions and, if you’re not already registered, be sure to do so by May 1, 2023 if you intend to vote in the 2023 Primary Election.

2. How do I register to vote?

You may apply online or submit a voter registration application form to the Montgomery County Voter Services office, either in person or by mail. Besides the Voter Services Office, forms can be obtained at most public offices - municipal buildings, post offices, liquor stores, etc.

3. Can I fax my registration application to the Voter Services Office?

No, an original signature is required on the paper registration application. Please note that online registration is available through the Department of State website.

4. Can my voter ID card be used as proof of citizenship?

No, a voter ID card is only proof of registration.

5. Do I have to vote a certain amount of times in order to remain on the registration rolls?

No, you remain an eligible voter unless the Voter Services Office is otherwise informed of a change in your status.

6. How do I change my party identification? Address? Name?

Changes to a voter registration record are made by filling out a voter registration application form .

7. How do I have my name removed from the voter rolls?

You must send the request for removal in writing to the Montgomery County Voter Services Office. An original signature is required so faxing or electronic transmission of this request is not acceptable.

8. If I have moved but have not yet changed my voter registration record, can I still vote at the same location?

You are entitled to vote at your “old” polling location one last time. However, you should submit a change of address as soon as possible after moving.

9. If I registered through Penn DOT, how will I know where to vote?

If you registered to vote when you applied for a license or had that license renewed, our office should be informed by Penn Dot. If you do not receive a voter ID card soon after your license is issued or changed, you should call the Voter Registration office.

10. What is the rule about convicted felons and voting?

The Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania ruled on December 26, 2000 that the Pennsylvania law prohibiting convicted felons from registering to vote for five years after their release from prison is unconstitutional.

Consequently, if completing an older version of the Voter Registration Mail Application (VRMA) form, a convicted felon who has been released from prison may make application to register to vote by striking through the felony conviction line at Section 9(2) on the VRMA and signing his or her name.

11. Who is eligible to vote in the Primary (spring) Election?

Individuals must be registered and enrolled in a political party to vote in that party's primary. However, all registered electors are entitled to vote on constitutional amendments and ballot questions and in all special elections that might be held concurrently with a primary.

12. Where do I vote?

You are assigned a polling location based on where you reside. The polling location is now printed on the voter identification card.

13. I am moving to a new county prior to the election, should I register there?

That depends on a couple of factors:

Will you live there for 30 days prior to the election? Will you be able to complete your registration by 10/19?

If you can answer “yes” to both of those questions, then yes – you can register there.

If the answer to either questions is “no”; you can hold off on registering in your new county until after the election and vote at your current polling place one more time.
