Emergency Food Infrastructure Grant

The events of the last two years – including both the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida - have exacerbated food insecurity issues in Montgomery County.  The county has put a significant amount of funds into the emergency food network during the ongoing pandemic.  $3 million was disbursed to many emergency food providers, in coordination with the MAHN, to pay for wholesale food, operating equipment, and facility renovations.

What the county does not have, despite this, is a larger distribution hub for the emergency food organizations.  This grant is exclusively for the purpose of aiding in the acquisition of warehousing space to support the creation of an emergency food distribution hub.  More explicit instructions are in the program guidelines document, linked below.  The county reserves the right to post edited guidelines before the application deadline if additional clarifications are needed.

Please find below the grant application materials for the Emergency Food Infrastructure Grant.  Applications will be accepted through April 18, 2022 at 11:59 PM.

Supporting documents, included the project narrative and the budget that are a required part of the application, should be sent to aleavitt@montcopa.org.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 610-278-3727.
