New StoryWalk Book! -The Norristown Farm Park has a new story along the Montco StoryWalk®: The Upside-Down Gardener by local author Chrysa Smith. When Dory Oslo plants a garden with her mother, the plants grow in unexpected ways. Calling all writers and illustrators! 
The Montco StoryWalk® is back and it starts May 1 through August 1. Enter for a chance to have your creative work featured on one of the Montco StoryWalks® and join us for a celebratory Award Ceremony at the Norristown Farm Park in September. Morning Bird Walk
Join park staff for a morning bird walk. Come observe some amazing birds that are only stopping by. Bring binoculars if you have them. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

Homeschool- Healthy Planet
To celebrate Earth Day this month, let’s learn about ways to help the Earth. We will begin by learning about pollution. What is it and why does it happens. Then we will discuss ways to help the planet!

Full Moon Hike 
Come experience a hike under the almost full moon. This nearly two mile hike will be led by Park Ranger Dave. See some nocturnal animals and experience the starry sky. Wear sturdy shoes for hiking.

Trout in the Classroom
We are beginning to wrap up our Trout in the Classroom program. Join us to have a review of our past classes, then learn all about fishing! Discover the different types of fishing rods, bait, and the law behind fishing. You will also have a chance to practice casting a fishing rod. Norristown Farm Park’s participation in the Trout in the Classroom program was made possible through a partnership between the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) and the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU).

Nature Explorers: Hike ‘N’ Seek
Discover the way many animals survive by hiding in plain sight. Take a hike to search for animals from mammal to insects. Create a camouflage craft to take home.

All about Trout
Part of the excitement of spring is the opening of trout season. Join park ranger Jake for a primer on trout fishing. Topics covered will include cold water fish habitat, the life cycle of trout, different trout species, and popular angling equipment and techniques. This will be in an indoor space to use a PowerPoint presentation.

Trout in the Classroom Release Day!
It is that day we all have been waiting for; Release Day! We have gone through the journey of raising Rainbow Trout from eggs to fingerlings. Join us to release our babies into Kepner Creek. We will also be visited by members from Stony Creek Anglers, PA Fish and Boat Commission, and South East Montgomery County Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Participants will also have a chance to practice their casting and to take a chance at fishing in the creek! Registration is Required for this event as it will help us prepare supplies!

Shadows of the Past
Join us for a deep dive into the history of the Norristown Farm Park, from its origins as Lenape land to its role in agricultural production in the early 19th century. Hear fascinating stories from the Norristown State Hospital with its pioneering physicians and their controversial methods. This is an Indoor program with a PowerPoint.
Adults only; free. 

Opening Day of Trout fishing is April 1st! 

Thanks to PA Fish and Boat Commission, Norristown Farm Park is a Fishing Gear Loaner Site. This means we have equipment that can be borrowed! We will supply you with a rod, tackle box, and information for a beginner. To borrow equipment reach out to Rebecca to schedule a time for pick up. Gear may be used at other fishing locations, but must be returned to the Farm Park. Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years or older.
