Black History Month

The Black History Month Committee appreciates the opportunity and responsibility to extend our reach, while welcoming back guests over the past 16 years. The National Theme of Black Health and Wellness, is more timely than ever. Good health and awareness in action, affects multiple facets of family and community health. The topics of discussion will include Holistic Wellness, Maternal Child Health, Mental and Spiritual Health and Covid-19 in the Black Community.

No one group has a patent on health and wellness, but accessible, good holistic healthcare and information has been denied to people of color and the most vulnerable throughout history. Targeted disparities, neglect and mistreatment in these communities have contributed to voids in optimal health and basic needs, such as toxic drinking water and cancer clusters. The response to a pervasive lack of representation and diverse leadership in the Medical and Healthcare fields has led us “back to the future”, reconnecting with traditional, holistic practices, innovative ideas and preventive care. When we all know better, we can do better. Impactful holistic healthcare, wellness and education for everyone is as important as providing it with thoughtfulness, fairness and integrity.
